  1. "Ride from Monmouth University to Sandy Hook National seashore and Back" (34 flat miles), or
  2. "Ride from Monmouth University to Metz Bicycle Museum and Back" (42 miles tour, limited to 12 experienced riders only).
Both of these rides require riders to purchase their lunch on the routes, and sign-up at Registration is required.
Start from Parking Lot 6.
9:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. "New Jersey is for Wheelmen" (see "List of Activities" being offered). Note: You may want to plan on eating lunch away from the University on this day in order to have more freedom to partake of the activities being offered.Start from Anacon Hall Meeting Room.

1:00-5:00 p.m.Metz Bicycle Museum in Freehold, NJ, is open to Wheelmen. The distance from Monmouth University to the Museum is about 20 miles by car.

Take the 9:30 AM Staten Island Ferry to the Battery on Manhattan (NYC) to start the "Ride Around Manhattan and Out to Coney Island" at 10:00 AM.Staten Island Ferry Terminal on Staten Island.

"Ride Around Manhattan (NYC)": Rides of
  • 50 Miles (Complete periphery of Manhattan Island with stops at Grant's Tomb, East Side Raceway, Central Park, Manhattan Bridge-Brooklkyn Bridge-City Hall Park-Ground Zero-Wall Street)
  • 30 Miles (To Grant's Tomb-Central Park-Brooklyn Bridge-Ground Zero)
  • 12 Miles (Grant's Tomb-Ground Zero) will all start from The Battery (Staten Island Ferry Terminal) at 10:00 AM when the 9:30 Staten Island Ferry lands at the Battery.
A visit to Governor's Island (free ferry, bike paths, food vendors, and no cars) is also possible. The rides end with a ride on the Staten Island Ferry back to our cars on Staten Island.

List of Activities for "New Jersey is for Wheelmen" on Thursday, July 29th:
  1. Trip to Metz Bicyle Museum in Freehold, NJ: Join a guided bicycle ride to visit this important Bicycle Museum (lunch in Freehold), or Drive to Freehold, NJ, for lunch and visit to the Museum with the cycling group.
  2. Trip to Sandy Hook National Seashore by bicycle or by car (20 miles round trip) and then ride in the Park (17 miles). Lunch can be purchased in the Park.
  3. Bathing on the Shore at Long Branch, NJ, or other Jersey shore communitiies. Note: Beach charges apply.
  4. Tour Historic Houses and Places in Monmouth County, NJ.
  5. Enjoy Allaire State Park and Ride the Steam Train and/or bike the Rail to Trail (6 miles).
  6. Shopping at Pier Village in Long Branch and elsewhere in Monmouth County, NJ.
  7. Make up your own program for the afternoon.
